Martin Catchpole

Martin is a GIP Partner focusing on its energy and utility infrastructure investments across EMEA. Key projects to date have included assessing investments in gas infrastructure, renewable investments and energy transition assets in particular.

He represents GIP’s interests as a Director on the Board of GalaxyCo, covering GIP’s investment into the Abu Dhabi gas network infrastructure investment alongside ADNOC, the national energy company, and as a Director on Scotia Gas Networks, a gas distribution utility covering Scotland and the South of England in the UK.

Prior to GIP, Martin spent 16 years at Credit Suisse in the energy group having spent time working in London and New York during this period, always focused on the energy and utility sector. Most recently before joining GIP, Martin was Co-Head of the European Energy Group in Investment Banking at Credit Suisse where he was responsible for the power, utility and renewables sector franchise in EMEA.

Before Credit Suisse, he worked in the energy group at Kleinwort Wasserstein and initially qualified as a Chartered Accountant with EY. In addition, Martin holds a B.A. in Business Economics from the University of Exeter.
