Gonzalo Garcia

Gonzalo Garcia joined GIP in 2025 as a Partner to support the sector teams and the wider business, drawing on his extensive experience and top-level industry relationships following a 30 year investment banking career. He is based in London.

Mr. Garcia spent the last 25 years at Goldman Sachs, holding various managerial and client facing roles. Most recently as Co-Head of EMEA Investment Banking (2020-2024), member of the European Management Committee and the Global Investment Banking Executive Committee. Before that, Gonzalo was Co-Head of Latin America Firmwide (2017-2020); Co-Head of Global Natural Resources Investment Banking (2014-2020) and Co-Head of Global Utilities and Infrastructure (2008-2014). He was made a Partner of Goldman Sachs in 2008. During his Investment Banking career, Gonzalo worked advising and financing Governments, Corporates and Financial Sponsors in the transport, utilities, power and clean energy sectors globally.

Prior to Goldman Sachs, Mr. Garcia held various positions at Dresdner Kleinwort Benson in London and Buenos Aires (1993-1999) and was a Systems Engineer at IBM Corporation in Chile (1988-1991)

Mr. Garcia has a degree in engineering from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and an MBA from London Business School. He is a member of The Governing Body of London Business School since 2021.
