Eric Varvel

Eric Varvel is a Partner, having joined GIP in 2022.  He focuses on strategic LP relationships and partnerships in addition to developing GIP’s Wealth Management and Family office distribution platform.

Prior to joining GIP, Mr. Varvel spent over 30 years at Credit Suisse. He served in various senior roles including: CEO of the Investment Bank; Global Head of Asset Management; CEO of Asia Pacific, and CEO of Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA).  Mr. Varvel was also a long-serving member of the Credit Suisse Group Executive Board.

Mr. Varvel began his career as an analyst at Morgan Stanley working in both New York and Tokyo. Over his career, he has lived and worked in New York, London, Tokyo, Singapore and Jakarta.

Mr. Varvel was previously a member of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Stock Exchange and currently serves on the President’s Leader Council and National Advisory Council of Brigham Young University.  Mr. Varvel earned his B.A. in Finance from Brigham Young University.
