JinPing Sun

JinPing Sun is a GIP Emerging Markets Partner, having joined the firm in 2019. He is based in Hong Kong.

Prior to joining GIP, Mr. Sun served as the Partner of TPG Strategic Infrastructure (“TSI”). Prior to forming TSI with Dr. Cai in 2016, Mr. Sun served as the Director of Strategic Investments at the IFC, where he advised on the strategy and execution of global power, mining, and agriculture projects.

Mr. Sun also served as Executive Director of State Grid International Development Co. (“SGID”), Ltd. He was appointed as Executive Committee member and Chief Investment Director of State Grid Corporation of China (“SGCC”) in January 2012. Previously, Mr. Sun worked as the Managing Director of China International Water & Electric Corp. (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. in Singapore for 10 years.

Mr. Sun received an M.B.A. from the University of Adelaide and a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
