London City Airport Named Best London Airport

LONDON CITY AIRPORT NAMED ‘BEST LONDON AIRPORT’ AT THE 12TH LONDON TRANSPORT AWARDS

London City Airport has been presented with a prestigious London Transport Award for being the Best London Airport. The award, announced at the 12th annual London Transport Awards ceremony, recognised the airport’s continuing success in serving the needs of London’s business traveller, its innovative approach to smoothing the passenger journey and enhancing customer experience and the role its growth plans will play in increasing air connectivity to the heart of the capital.

Declan Collier, Chief Executive Officer, London City Airport, welcomed the accolade as a further endorsement of the airport’s industry-‐leading strategies in the areas of technology, customer service and infrastructure and route development.

“We are naturally very pleased that the judging panel of the London Transport Awards – in association with leading publication Transport Times -‐ have named us as Best London Airport.

“London City Airport prides itself on its central location, unique amongst London airports, which makes it a convenient gateway to London’s business, finance and political communities for business travellers. Our continuing focus is on the speed at which passengers can depart from, and arrive at, the airport, the punctuality of our operation and our emphasis on best-‐in-‐class customer service.

“We recognise that our operation is driven by the needs of our customers – we use research to better understand what those needs are, we deliver against them using innovation and technology and we measure ourselves against customer feedback.

This further recognition of the efforts made by every single one of our team members is highly gratifying.”

The London Transport Awards 2015, were judged by Professor David Begg, Chair of the judging panel and Chief Executive of Transport Times; Janet Cooke, Chief Executive, London Travel Watch; Nick Lester-‐Davis, Corporate Director of Services, London Councils and Caroline Pidgeon MBE, Chair of the London Assembly’s Transport Committee.

Sir Peter Hendy CBE, Transport Commissioner, Transport for London said: “London’s population is now the biggest in its history, and the city increasingly works and plays both day and night. This presents a continuous challenge to support many more millions of journeys each day. These awards let us take stock and celebrate achievements in keeping London working and growing, and making life here better.”
