Serge Lauper

Serge Lauper is a GIP Partner and the Global Head for Infrastructure Solutions, based in Zurich.

Infrastructure Solutions provides access to globally diversified infrastructure portfolios through investments in primary funds, secondary transactions, and direct co-investments. Mr. Lauper is responsible for all aspects of the Infrastructure Solutions business including business management, investment & portfolio management, business development, and investor relations & solutions. He sets the strategic direction and operational framework for the team and guides its implementation.

Mr. Lauper serves as the chair of the Infrastructure Solutions Investment Committee and its Industrial Advisory Board. He is a board member and director for various portfolio companies and sits on several fund limited partner advisory boards. Additionally, Mr. Lauper is a member of the EDHEC Infrastructure Advisory Board.

Mr. Lauper has three decades of private markets investment experience and joined the Infrastructure Solutions team in 2008 as a founding member. He has been instrumental in all aspects of the platform’s growth, successfully deploying capital across multiple economic cycles to drive long-term value creation and returns for investors. He has been instrumental in growing the platform’s capabilities and track record.

Prior to joining BlackRock in 2012, Mr. Lauper was an Investment Principal and a member of the Executive Management Team at Swiss Re Private Equity Partners, where he established and developed the infrastructure equity investment practice. In this role, he was responsible for developing and investing infrastructure investment mandates and funds on behalf of institutional investors. Previously, he was a Partner at SCM Strategic Capital Management, overseeing indirect real estate and infrastructure investments and portfolios. Earlier in his career, he worked as a private equity Investment Professional in the corporate finance department of a Swiss banking group. He began his career as a Management Consultant, first with Bain & Company and then with The Boston Consulting Group, focusing on the power and telecommunications infrastructure sectors.

Mr. Lauper holds a Masters degree in Industrial Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETHZ) and a Masters degree in Finance from the London Business School (LBS). He is a CAIA Charterholder and completed the INSEAD International Directors Program (IDP52).
