Matthew C. Harris

Matthew Harris is a partner of GIP and is based in New York City. Matthew leads GIP’s energy / waste industry investment team globally.

Prior to the formation of GIP, Matthew was a Managing Director in the Investment Banking Department at Credit Suisse. Most recently, he was Co-Head of the Global Energy Group and Head of the EMEA Emerging Markets Group. Prior to this, Matthew was a senior member of the Mergers and Acquisitions Group and served as Co-Head of Americas M&A. Previously, he was a senior member of the Mergers and Acquisitions Group of Kidder Peabody & Co. Incorporated.

Matthew is a mergers and acquisitions specialist, having worked on over 150 merger and acquisition transactions during his career including sellside advisory, buyside advisory, mergers of equals, recapitalizations, restructurings and going private transactions aggregating in total in excess of $150 billion. During this time, he has worked on many significant transactions (both advisory and financing) in the energy and waste infrastructure sectors in the United States, Western Europe, Russia and the former Soviet Union, Central and Eastern Europe and the Middle East.

Matthew Harris is a director of the GIP portfolio companies Biffa, Chesapeake Midstream Partners, LLC and Ruby Pipeline Holding Company, LLC. Mr. Harris holds a B.A. in Political Science (Cum Laude) from the University of California at Los Angeles.
